	This story takes place during Goliath, Angela, Elisa, and Bronx's Avalon 
journeys.

The Quest Continues

	As the mist cleared, Goliath looked at the land before them. "Where are we?" 
"Defiantly not New York, "Elisa sighed.
"It's so beautiful here," Angela said as she looked at the cliffs rising above the beach.
	Goliath got out of the skiff and pulled it onto the beach. Bronx and Angela jumped out, and Goliath helped Elisa onto the beach. "Wow. Who do you suppose lives there?" Angela said as she pointed to the top of the cliffs.
	Built high on top of the cliffs, a huge house looked over the beach. Elisa looked up and said, "Well, if  there's a house way up there, there has to be stairs or something around here somewhere."
"Over there, "Goliath said.
	They walked over and found wooden stairs leading up a steady slope on the cliff. Elisa was about to walk up when Goliath put his hand on her shoulder, stopping her. "It's almost sunrise. We'll stay down here for the day."
"I'll go up and see at least where we are."
	Goliath nodded and walked away to find a safe place to rest for the day, Angela and Bronx following. Elisa watched them for a minute, then started climbing the stairs. When she finally reached the top, she sat down to catch her breath for a moment. "And I thought the trip up to the clock tower was hard."
	Elisa stood back up and walked closer to the gigantic house. She heard many sounds of horses coming from the stables, and saw helicopters, boats, and planes of all different sizes. "Who lives here?" Elisa asked aloud. "The President?"
	Elisa finally found the front door of the complex, and rang the doorbell. A man with white hair, wearing a red shirt and blue jeans answered the door. "Yes?"
"Um, hi. I'm Elisa Maza and I'm, uh, a bit lost."
"Well, come in, "The man said.
	Elisa walked inside and looked around at the huge room. "Woah."
"Follow me, Elisa." 
	She followed him into a den area and she saw another man sitting there, along with three teenagers, two boys and a girl. The bearded man looked up and said, "Who was it, Race?"
"This is Elisa Maza, she says she's lost," Race said.
	The man stood up and walked up to Elisa. She shook his hand as he said, "Welcome to the Quest Compound. I'm Dr. Benton Quest."
	One of the boys, blonde haired and blue-eyed, walked up to Dr. Quest. "And this is my son, Jonny, "Dr. Quest continued. "Please, sit down."
	Elisa walked over to the couch and sat down. Dr. Quest sat back down in his chair, and Race sat on the same couch as Elisa. He leaned over and extended his hand to shake. "I'm Race Bannon, and that's my daughter Jessie, "He said as he shook Elisa's hand.
	Jessie looked over the computer she was messing with and waved. Elisa waved back and said, "This may sound strange, but where am I?"
	Race looked at Dr. Quest, and Dr. Quest said, "You're in Maine."
"Maine?!" Elisa said, surprised.
"You are at the Quest Compound, "The other boy said. "I am Hadji Singh. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Quest, "Elisa said quietly. "Hey, aren't you the ones who found the 'Manhattan Man-eater'?"
"Why, yes, "Dr. Quest said. "Then we released the tiger in India."
"I thought you all looked familiar, I saw you on TV, "Elisa said. "I live in New York."
	Jessie looked up, "If you live in New York, how'd youu get here, and not know what state you're in?"
	Elisa didn't know what to say, "Um, that is... I uhh," she fumbled, fidgeting with her fingers nervously.
	Everyone was staring at her, and Elisa felt like she could faint. She chuckled and sighed, "Dr. Quest, you're against giving rare, uh, animals over to science, right?"
"Yes, I am. Highly against it. "
"Well, wait until sun down, and you'll be able to see one of the rarest animals of all. I'll explain then, "Elisa sighed.
"Well, until then, you look like you could use some sleep. Jonny will show you a place to rest," Dr. Quest said.
	Jonny got up and lead Elisa out of the room and down the hall. Race watched them walk out, then he turned to Dr. Quest. "What do you suppose she meant?"
"I don't know, Race. I have to admit that I don't know."
"Well, she's got me as curious as an alley cat in a warehouse full of toy mice."

	Elisa slept the entire day, waking up a few hours before nightfall. She led the Quest Team down to the beach and up to the skiff. Dr. Quest looked at the skiff and said, "This has to be at 
least one thousand years old! And in perfect condition!"
"That's how we got here, " Elisa said.
	Race looked at her. "We?"
"Follow me, "Elisa said as she continued to walk down the beach.
	They followed her, Dr. Quest and Race ahead of Hadji, Jessie, and Jonny. Jonny walked closer to Jessie and said, "What do you think, Jess?"
"I don't know, but I'm beginning to think Elisa hit her head or something..."
"Ah! Here they are! "Elisa shouted.
	The Quest Team walked up to Elisa and looked at the gargoyles. "Stone gargoyles?" Race said.
"On the beach?" Jonny said.
"How did gargoyles get here?" Dr. Quest asked.
	Elisa looked at the setting sun and said, "You'll find out in a few moments."
	Everyone stared at the gargoyles. As the sun set, cracks started to appear all over the stone statues. "What the..." Jonny said.
	Suddenly, the gargoyles burst roaring out of their stone skin, scaring the heck out of the group. Goliath stretched, then looked at the strangers. "Everyone, this is Goliath, Angela, and,"
Elisa paused as Bronx came up to her. "This guy is Bronx."
"It's a pleasure to meet all of you, "Goliath said, extending his hand.	Dr. Quest shook Goliath's hand, amazed. "If I wasn't standing here I would never have believed this..."
	Race shook Goliath's hand too, "Me neither, Benton. Me neither."
"Hi, I'm Jessie, "Jessie said as she shook Angela's hand.
"Nice to meet you, "Angela answered. She chuckled, then added, "You've got hair like my mother's."
	Jessie looked down then back up and said, "So do I."
"How long have you been alive? How many other gargoyles are there?" Dr. Quest asked.
"Including the time I was under a spell, almost 1,050 years. I don't know exactly how many," Goliath said. "But there are over thirty.."
"Unbelievable.." Dr. Quest said.
	Jonny leaned over and whispered, "What do you think about them, Hadj?"
"I'm amazed. However, there are many species in this world that haven't yet been discovered."
"That's nice to know, Hadji, "Jonny said. "But now I wonder if any of these things live in Maine."
"You never know, "Hadji said before walking up to Goliath and introducing himself.
	Jessie walked over to Race and said, "Aren't they neat, Dad?"
"They sure are, Ponchita, "Race said. "They sure are."

	Dr. Quest invited the gargoyles up to the Quest Compound. Everyone walked back up the stairs to the top of the cliffs, the gargoyles taking the short cut straight up. Once everyonewas inside, Dr. Quest had some hot tea waiting in the den. He told the butler to go get extra cups and more tea, then they all sat down. "So how did you all exactly get here?" Race asked.
"Have you ever heard of the island Avalon?" Goliath asked.
"The magical island where the legendary King Arthur Pendragon rests?" Dr. Quest asked.
"You mean used to rest, "Elisa murmured.
	Dr. Quest looked at her then continued. "Yes, of course."
"Well, we were there. And now, Avalon is sending us places for a purpose, but we don't know why we were sent here yet," Elisa said.
	Dr. Quest looked at Elisa and then at the gargoyles. He chuckled then said, "You know, if they weren't sitting right here, I would have thought you were crazy..."
	They told the Quest Team all about Avalon and their adventures. Soon, the sun rose, turning the gargoyles to stone, right in the middle of the den. Jonny got up and said, "Elisa, how'd you like to see the Questworld system?"
"I'd love it."

	A couple miles away, someone else was accessing Questworld. Dr. Jeremya Surd walked around in the Virtua- world, then saw Jonny, Elisa, and Jessie appear. "Ah, my good 'friends' have 
arrived, "He chuckled evily.

"Wow, this is amazing, "Elisa said, looking around.
"Yeah, Hadji, Jonny, and I made all this, "Jessie said.
"How long did it take you to do all this?" Elisa asked.
"Well, my Dad had been working on this system as long as I can remember. It took him years to get it up to this level though, "Jonny explained.
"Why isn't Hadji with us?" Elisa asked.
"We always have one person monitoring us. You never know what could happen, "Jessie answered.
"Yes, anything could happen, "Someone said.
"Oh no, Surd!" Jonny said.
"Who's Surd? "Elisa asked. "Or do I want to know?"
"I don't think you do... "Jessie said. "Quick! We have to sign off!"
"Jonny Quest, Elisa Maza, and Jessie Bannon signin' off!" Jonny shouted.
	Nothing happened. They looked around. "Is this supposed to happen?" Elisa said nervously.
"Nice try, Quest brats. But I'm afraid it's not that easy, " Surd said.
"Hadji! Get us outta here!" Jonny shouted.
	Outside of Questworld, Hadji was desperately trying to deactivate the program. "This is not good!" He said, rapidly punching the keyboard keys.
	He ran up to the group and ripped the Questworld ear pieces off of them. They came to and rubbed their heads. Hadji walked up to Elisa and said, "I'm very sorry Ms. Maza. You can see one of the, uh,  'technical difficulties' we have to deal with."
"On the contrary, Hadji, "Elisa said. "Now I know why my friends and I were sent here.."

	As soon as the gargoyles woke up, Elisa explained what had happened. "Well it seems there's only one way to end all of this, "Goliath simply said.
	Soon, the gargoyles, Elisa, Race, and Jonny were all ready to sign on. Bronx whined as he watched Goliath and Angela sit back on the special chairs. "Questworld, logging on," Race said. "Subjects Race Bannon, Jonny Quest, Elisa Maza, Goliath, and Angela."

	They found themselves back in Questworld, but the landscape was slightly different.
"Wow, "Angela said. "I've never seen anything like this.."
"Be on guard, Angela, "Goliath said.
	Race turned to Jonny and said, "Where were you when Surd started messing with you all?"
"In the Tenya Sector of Questworld, "Jonny answered.
"You here that, Hadji?" Race shouted.
	Hadji's voice surrounded them. "I'm one footstep ahead of you, Race."
	The landscape around them vanished, then the landscape of the Tenya Sector materialized in front of them. "This is the place, "Elisa said.
"No sign of Surd, "Race said. "You sure this is the place, Jonny?"
	Suddenly the light dimmed, and Surd's voice boomed around them. "I thought you'd come back!"
"Never mind, "Race murmured. "What do you want, Surd?"
"What else, Mr. Bannon. Revenge!"
	The land around them bent and twisted, forming a tunnel, and enclosing the group. "Not this again, "Jonny said. "He did the same thing to Jessie and I about a year ago."
"Well, how'd you get out?" Race asked.
	Jonny held out his hand and said, "Iris! I need a cyberbomb, now!"
"Sorry, network malfunction, "the computer's voice stated. "No accessories available."
"Like I said," Surd hissed. "It's not going to be that easy!"
"Great, Surd overloaded the system, "Jonny said.
"I think I know a way out," Goliath said.
	Everyone looked at him, and Goliath nodded to Angela. The gargoyles clawed and punched at the wall, finally breaking through it. "Everyone out! Quickly!" Goliath shouted.
	They ran out of the tunnel, only to find themselves in yet another one. The wall behind them closed up, trapping them inside the second tunnel. "This is beginning to annoy me, "Goliath growled.
"Well, looks like we've gotta get out of here the old fashioned way, "Race said. "C'mon!"
	They followed Race through the twists and turns of the tunnel. Jonny stopped and shouted, "This isn't going to work, Race. We need to fight Surd face to face!"
	Race stopped and said, "Yeah, you're right. Surd! I dare you to face us, man to man!"
	He looked over then added, "And gargoyle!"
"If you insist, "Surd said as he appeared in front of them. "But it's not going to help you any."
	Surd raised his arm and started to fire at them. Goliath's eyes shone as he ripped out part of the tunnel wall to use as a shield. He ran up to Surd and sandwiched him between the wall and the shield. Surd shot at Goliath's feet and hit it once, making Goliath roar. "That hurts!" Goliath roared. 
	Angela ran up to them and gave Goliath a part of the tunnel to wrap around Surd. Goliath did just that, and held him up. "I believe this is the 'technical difficulty' you were referring 
to?" Goliath said.
"As a matter of  fact, "Race grinned. "It is. Hadji! You there?"
	The tunnel suddenly shattered, then disappeared. "Right here, Race, "Hadji said.
"What're we supposed to do with this weasel here?"
"Leave that to me, "Hadji answered.
	Surd suddenly disappeared from Goliath's claws. "Where'd he go?" Elisa asked.
"Let's find out, "Race said. "Race Bannon, Elisa Maza, Jonny Quest, Goliath, and Angela signing off!"
	They returned to the real world and walked up to Hadji. "Where did Surd go?"
"I put him somewhere where he won't be any trouble, "Hadji smiled.
	Back inside Questworld, Surd was punching at a wall that enclosed him. "You can't get rid of me that easily!!" He shouted. "I'll get out! Then you'll pay!"

	The next night, Elisa, Goliath, Angela, and Bronx were on the beach, getting ready to leave. The Quest Team was there with them, saying their good-bye's. "We can't thank you enough for what you did, "Dr. Quest said as he shook Goliath's hand.
"It was our pleasure, I guess, "Goliath chuckled. "Next time you're in Manhattan, make sure to visit us."
"You bet!" Jonny said.
	Everyone got in the skiff, and Goliath pushed off. The Quest's waved good-bye as the skiff disappeared into the mist.
